Alex's Take on Treatment
Coming soon!
Approach to Therapy
Alex aims to create a collaborative therapeutic space. He believes that people create inner change when they feel heard, understood, and empowered to try new or difficult things. Alex integrates evidence-based tools across a wide range of therapeutic modalities depending on the client's needs. He frequently implements the gold standard treatment for OCD: exposure and response prevention (ERP).
Alex often encourages clients dealing with OCD and anxiety to lean into uncertainty. He believes that when people confront their fears rather than try to mitigate them, they discover inner strength and power. He frequently emphasizes the importance of self-compassion and the value of imperfection, and enjoys helping people learn to be kinder to themselves.
Experience and Training
Alex earned his Bachelor of Science in psychology from Florida State University and his Master of Science in clinical mental health counseling from Mercer University.
Alex has experience across multiple levels of care, including psychiatric outpatient, private practice, intensive outpatient (IOP), and partial hospitalization (PHP) settings. Alex has worked with individuals across ages, navigating a wide variety of OCD presentations, generalized anxiety, social anxiety, phobias, panic disorder, and depression.
Alex is trained in exposure and response prevention (ERP) for children, teens, and adults. He is also trained in inference-based cognitive behavioral therapy (I-CBT), another evidence-based treatment for OCD.
More About Alex
Outside of the therapy room, Alex is an avid birdwatcher and writer. He enjoys going for nature walks and spending time with his wife and their two dogs, cat, and gecko. He loves food and will never pass up the opportunity to try something new. In his free time, you can find him sitting in a coffee shop, snacking on a pastry, and sipping matcha or coffee.
