Yvonne’s Take on Treatment

Approach to Therapy

 Yvonne’s approach to therapy is engaging, warm, and nonjudgmental. She believes that the therapeutic process should be collaborative and account for each client’s unique social, situational, medical, and psychological needs. Yvonne works hard to ensure that each client feels comfortable, valued, and appreciated.  She is very committed to providing evidence based care and specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Exposure and Response Prevention.  Yvonne believes in developing a trusting relationship from the beginning of therapy and often collaborates with her client’s support network.  She believes that including parents in the therapeutic process is pivotal to the change process. Yvonne creates a very structured treatment plan that begins with engaging each client in psychoeducation and assists each client in developing interventions.  Yvonne prepares clients to be successful and negotiate change. Yvonne is very passionate about helping her clients reach their goals and improve the quality of their lives.

Experience and Training

Yvonne received both her undergraduate and Master’s degree from Loyola University Chicago. She also completed a minor in Spanish and is fluent in the language. Yvonne is a seasoned clinician with over 20 years of experience in the field in both community mental health and private practice settings. Prior to joining the OCD & Anxiety Center, she spent 20 years working in a community mental health center where she was the manager of individual services and psychoeducational groups as well as several years in private practice concurrently.  She has extensive experience applying Cognitive Behavioral Therapies, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to the full spectrum of anxiety and mood disorders. She is comfortable treating children, adolescents and adults struggling with OCD, PTSD, social phobia, school refusal, specific phobias, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder and depression.  Yvonne is a member of the International OCD Foundation as well as The Anxiety Disorders Association of America. Utilizing her clinical expertise and a deep commitment to helping her patients, her therapeutic style blends a warm, compassionate approach with serious goal setting and a commitment to helping clients reach their goals.

More About Yvonne

Yvonne is originally from Chicago and grew up in the Northern Suburbs.  She enjoys spending time with family and her two dogs. Yvonne enjoys hiking, bike riding, and spending time outdoors.
