Cassandra’s Take on Treatment

“It takes immense courage to face your most intense anxieties by opening up to a therapist about them, especially when the world so often tells you to keep everything inside. But, when you take that first step, you open up doors in your world that you didn’t realize were closed. It is my privilege to walk up to them with you and swing them wide open together.”

Approach to Therapy

Cassandra’s therapeutic approach is rooted in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy with an emphasis on Exposure and Response Prevention. She also integrates other evidence-based treatments including Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy according to each client’s individual needs. Cassandra views each client as the true expert on their own thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Her goal is to stand with the client in their journey to face anxiety head on using research supported treatment techniques as their guide. Cassandra also believes that parents and families are an integral part of the treatment team and involves them in the process to ensure the most long-lasting therapeutic change possible.

Experience and Training

Cassandra is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Northern Illinois University. In 2017, she graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology, and she received her Master’s degree in child studies from Vanderbilt University in 2019. She has previously worked in outpatient, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization programs with clients of all ages learning to overcome OCD, anxiety disorders, and eating disorders. Cassandra also has experience treating and assessing Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and behavior disorders, particularly in children, adolescents, and young adults.
