Jenn's Take on Treatment

“Although it can sometimes be scary and intimidating talking to a stranger about personal issues you may not have discussed with anyone before, therapy is a safe, nonjudgmental place to help you realize your goals and potential.  You are not alone.  Many people can benefit from a little extra support now and then, especially when life throws you a curve ball or you may find yourself pulled in too many directions at once from pressures from work, family, and friends.  Therapy is a great place to help us find some balance in our lives and work through things that may be holding us back.”

Approach to Therapy

Dr. Hambaugh works with each patient to form a collaborative team-like approach.  She believes in creating a safe environment to help patients with internal exploration and realize their personal goals.  Dr. Hambaugh tries to meet patients wherever they are in life to help them address aspects of their life they wish to improve or adapt. She works with patients to identify areas in which patients may feel stuck or overwhelmed, and she develops an individualized plan, building off strengths, to help them live their best lives.

Experience and Training

Dr. Hambaugh earned her Psy.D. from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  She completed her doctoral internship at the Leavenworth VAMC and her post-doctoral internship at the St. Cloud VAMC.  Dr. Hambaugh worked in a private practice in the suburbs of Chicago for several years as well as multiple outpatient medical hospitals and several Veteran Affairs Medical Hospitals.  She is comfortable treating adolescents and adults struggling with PTSD, OCD and all anxiety disorders including generalized anxiety disorder, social phobias, specific phobias, panic disorder as well as related issues including depression and body focused repetitive behavior.

In order to better suit each patient's needs, Dr. Hambaugh has had extensive training and utilizes several approaches in therapy which include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, and the Transtheorectical Model. She has completed Cognitive Behavior Institute’s 4 day Exposure and Response Prevention Training and is a member of the International OCD Foundation. She is also a member of the Anxiety and Depression Association and often attends many of their training opportunities. In addition, she has completed the Trichotillomania Learning Center Intensive training program for treating Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors.
